Introductory post

I've opted for a blog over a mass email for this semester's excursion across the border. I'm currently in Iowa, and I don't travel to Mexico until next week. All remaining preparations don't make for a very good story, so I'll spare you the details. As far as the blog itself goes, anyone should be able to comment, with or without an account. Please feel free and encouraged to do so, so I don't feel like I'm sending my words out unnoticed into the void of cyberspace. Also feel welcome to shower me with emails if your have my email address, and packages if you have the address of our P.O. box in Irapuato, the closest city to the villages, and our weekend home.

I'm looking forward to getting another three months in the villages (ranchos), and more importantly more time with the villagers (rancheros). I'll put up another post after I get there...
